Midtowncharlybrown Breaks Maiden in Decisive Fashion

Uptowncharlybrown’s 3-year-old son Midtowncharlybrown scored a smashing 11 1/2-length victory in his third start, a maiden event at Penn National Jan. 25.

The 3-year-old chestnut colt led throughout the 5 ½ furlong dirt contest, recording fractions of :22.14, :45.37, and :57.43. He opened up his advantage down the stretch, leaving eight rivals struggling in his wake.

Midtowncharlybrown completed the distance in 1:03.89 for trainer Edward Coletti Jr. and owners Fantasy Lane Stable and Godric LLC.

Bred by Godric, Midtowncharlybrown is out of the Speightstown mare Torchwood. He has earned $21,430 from his three career starts.

Uptowncharlybrown ranked third on Pennsylvania’s 2016 first crop sire list. His top runner last year was Alan’s Legacy. Out of the Dixie Union mare Glorious Union, Alan’s Legacy demolished a field of juvenile maidens with a 22 1/2 score at Parx Racing last Nov. 16. The colt has won or placed in three of five starts and earned $47,870.
